MUSEUM Permanent exhibitions History Today Noah’s ark Secret of glass Glittering surface – Cut glass Frosted marks – Engraved and sandblasted glass Planet color – Painted glass Tamed fire – Blown and cast glass In the very center of the museum, Noah’s Ark, a unique two story display, is anchored. It carries a part of the collection of the art glass created by the artists during the International Glass Symposium (IGS) in Nový Bor. It was first held in 1982. No one suspected back then how important tradition for the world glass art had just begun. The unique collection was in a danger of being sold out piece by piece. At the last moment, what seemed almost impossible had succeeded. All the collection with over 1500 art pieces was purchased in 2012 by the Foundation Josef Viewegh and made it the essence of the permanent exhibition of the Glassworks František. A hot and few old cooling furnaces dominate the magnificent space of the central hall of the museum. This is the place where performances, concerts and various meetings often take place. Here, every day, directly in front of the visitor‘s eyes, new glass pieces are being made by the hands of our glassmakers.
