MAP Hukvaldy Janáček's birthplace; there he used to return his whole life. He mainly relaxed going for walks in the woods of Babí hůra and the Archbishop's game preserve. Janáček was born in the Hukvaldy school building on 3rd July 1854. Although he left his birthplace at the age of 12 and moved to Brno, he was a regular guest in Hukvaldy from the 1890s. In 1921, he bought a house in Hukvaldy from the widow of his brother František and after that he always came for a few weeks every year. Later, he also bought a forest called Babí hůra. Until the end of his life, Hukvaldy was one of his favourite places where he used to go primarily for some peace and quiet.
