MAP Luhačovice A place where Janáček regularly went for summer holidays. He used to undergo treatment in the spa and led a rich social life there. Janáček probably first visited Luhačovice in 1886 but he did not become a regular guest until 1903. Besides a few exceptions, he used to spend part of the summer holidays there until his death in 1928. Luhačovice Slavonic Spa designed by architect Dušan Jurkovič was a meeting place for prominent Czech personalities. Janáček used to meet e.g. Alfons Mucha, Otakar Ostrčil and others. It is also where he met his true love Kamila Stösslová. The spa life in Luhačovice inspired Janáček to compose the opera Destiny and in 1926 he composed the Glagolitic Mass there.
