10 MAP Lidická street 50 A place of Janáček's regular walks. The Lužánky Park was opened to the public in the 19th century. In the middle of the park stands a pavilion in which Janáček performed in concert productions as a child in the years 1866-69. When Janáček moved into the house at today's Smetanova Street in 1910, he used to go to the park almost daily for walks and it was a place where he wrote many melodies, especially of birds singing. The construction of the Czech National Theatre was planned for the corner of the Lužánky Park in 1908.
