The original hall was built in 1924 as a multifunctional space used primarily for exhibition purposes. It was also used for concerts from the very beginning. A large organ by Wilhelm Sauer from 1885, which was originally located in the concert hall of the Rudolfinum in Prague, was installed here shortly after its opening. The world premiere of Janáček's Glagolitic Mass was performed here on 5th December 1927. Although the hall was completely surrounded by new buildings shortly after the premiere, the interior remained nearly unchanged, including the original organ.
