The Pardubice tourist region The Chrudimsko-Hlinecko tourist region The Bohemian-Moravian Borderland tourist region Orlické mountains and Podorlicko tourist region Králický Sněžník tourist region Králický Sněžník tourist region Visitors to the smallest tourist area of the Pardubice region are welcomed by a virgin nature of the massifs of Králický Sněžník, Jeřab, Buková hora and Suchý vrch. The next places of interest are the system of frontier fortifications built in the period of 1935–1938, the place of pilgrimage called Mother of God’s Mountain in Dolní Hedeč or the Králíky municipal preserve area. All the aforementioned places tell us interesting stories about locals, their wishes, bravery as well as craftsmanship. Dolni Morava is an all-year-round popular recreational resort with numerous hotels, however, in winter in particular it is a sought-after resort due to its excellent infrastructure and illuminated toboggan run. The Military Museum in Dolní Lipka presents an exposition of military hardware from the period of the WW 2. In a close proximity to the museum, an event called “Cihelna” is held every year, which is a show of mock fights tempting all lovers of military history and military historical hardware. Orlické mountains and Podorlicko tourist region The tourist region of the Orlické hory mountains and the Podorlicko region are located in the northern part of east Bohemia. The border of this area is delimited by the range of the Orlické hory mountains and the line of towns of Dobrošov, Dobruška, Opočno, Týniště nad Orlicí, Choceň, Ústí nad Orlicí, Česká Třebová, Jablonné nad Orlicí and Lichkov. The region has a lot to offer to lovers of nature, history, culture and to active sports people as well. The Tichá Orlice river passes through the picturesque valleys of the Orlické hory mountains and the Podorlicko region. In the Peliny natural reserve in Choceň, the river bed is lined with sandy-marl walls up to 35 meters high. In the territory the “Orlické Cycle In-Line Kingdom” is situated. One of its most beautiful cycle paths goes along the Tichá Orlice river from Choceň as far as Letohrad. The largest town of the region is Česká Třebová, an important railway junction and a modern international transport terminal. In Letohrad, you can visit an extensive exposition called “Museum of Crafts” and an Early Baroque chateau. The gate to the Orlické hory mountains is the town of Jablonné nad Orlicí situated not far from Pastvinská reservoir and the Buková mountain winter resort with the Čenkovice and Červená Voda centers. In Brandýs nad Orlicí, in a close proximity to the monument of Comenius, the Teacher of Nations, you can lose your way in the hornbeam maze called “Labyrinth” commemorating the Comenius’s work titled The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart that he wrote in the course of his stay in Brandýs nad Orlicí. The Bohemian-Moravian Borderland tourist region This tourist region is a landscape of rolling dense forests, romantic valleys and sandstone mountains. It is also an ideal place for relaxation or active leisure time spent by walking or cycling trips. A visit to the Toulovcovy Maštale natural reserve which is the area of sandstone rock formations, gorges and canyon-shaped valleys can be a unique experience. The territory delimited by the ancient towns of Litomyšl, Moravská Třebová, Polička, Svitavy and Vysoké Mýto welcomes not only lovers of history and monuments but also devotees of worthwhile cultural experiences, natural beauties technically unique works. Litomyšl is famous especially due to its Renaissance chateau listed among the items of the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. After a tour of the chateau and the chateau brewery with the house where Bedřich Smetana, a famous Czech composer, was born, you can relax in Klášterní zahrady. Litomyšl is also the venue of the annual international music festival called “Smetana’s Litomyšl”. In Polička, the hometown of another famous Czech composer, Bohuslav Martinů, you will find the ancient walls surrounding the town which are definitely worth seeing. Svojanov castle, not far from Polička, counts among the oldest royal castles. Oskar Schindler’s home town, Svitavy, can take pride in its square with numerous Renaissance and Baroque houses. The Renaissance chateau in Moravská Třebová offers a tour of traditional expositions as well as a visit to a medieval torture chamber or an alchemist’s laboratory. The Rococo chateau in Nové Hrady is called “Bohemian Versailles” due to its beauty and nicely-kept gardens. The town of Vysoké Mýto welcomes you with one of the largest squares in Bohemia and its Gothic Church of St. Vavřinec; furthermore you can visit here the regional museum focused on technical monuments and automobile design as well. The Chrudimsko-Hlinecko tourist region The Chrudimsko-Hlinecko region is located in the south-western part of the Pardubice Region. A considerable part of its territory is covered by the rolling landscape of the Iron Mountains and the Žďárské vrchy hills rich in natural monuments and natural reserves. The natural beauties of the region are highlighted by waterworks and ruins of old castles such as Oheb above Sečská reservoir, Lichnice not far from Třemošnice or Košumberk in Luže. The Chrudimsko-Hlinecko region is a region of folk architecture and folk crafts traditions. The traditional Shrove strolls and masks in the Hlinecko region are listed among the items of the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. Chrudim is the largest town of the region and you can find here one of the greatest municipal preserve areas or three museums devoted to the regional affairs, puppeteers and Baroque sculptures. The Pardubice tourist region The Pardubice region is situated in the lowland along the Elbe river rich in ponds, irrigation canals and rivers lined with cycle paths. The Pardubice region has numerous places of historical interest, including the Gothic-Renaissance chateau and the historical centre of the city of Pardubice, the Baroque chateau in Choltice with a park full of plane trees and centuries-old oaks or the sacred building of the Romanesque church in Kojice and others. National Stud Kladruby nad Labem, renowned for raising the Starokladrubský horses, counts among very exceptional monuments. In the vicinity of the spa town of Lázně Bohdaneč, you will find the Bohdanečské rybníky natural area, which is crossed by numerous cycle paths. Pardubice is a modern city with a historical centre situated at the junction of the Elbe and the Chrudimka rivers. It is located only 100 km from the capital city of Prague. A dominant feature of the picturesque Pernštýnské square is the 60-meter high Green Gate boasting a magnificent view of the Kunětická hora castle as well as the historical centre of the city which is protected as a municipal preserve area. It can be found a chateau with unique fortification in the centre of the city.
