Immerse yourself in history with the Museum of Blansko Region Visit the museum in a Renaissance castle in the beautiful surroundings of the castle park and learn about the history of the region.. We will guide you through the earliest history, when Blansko and the Moravian Karst began to be inhabited by man. In the exhibition Journey to the Prehistory of Blansko you will find the most interesting archaeological finds from the region and accompanied by the comic guide Karel Pazourek you can play a game with your children. You will then discover that the work of an archaeologist is not a honeypot and resembles a detective investigation. In the exhibition you will meet Neanderthals from the Kůlna cave or the princess from the Bull Rock. In addition, families and other playful visitors can get into the museum's playroom. Here they can find an archaeological sandpit, secret boxes, a cave crawl and a touch screen full of games and additional information for curious visitors. The exhibition Castles of the Blansko area is dedicated to the Middle Ages. During a guided tour of the first floor of the castle, you will follow in the footsteps of the Blansko art castle. Ironworking runs like a hot line through the history of the region. In the mid-19th century, the foundries of Blansko and their range of products were renowned far and wide. The story of the doctor Jindřich Wankel, the father of Moravian archaeology, who succumbed to the magic of the local nature, also begins in the ironworks. The exhibition dedicated to his research in the Moravian Karst is the title of his book Images from Moravian Switzerland. It presents the results of excavations in caves, findings of extinct animals and collections of ancient explorers. There is also a diving suit. A journey through natural history will lead from the primordial seas to the skeleton of a cave lion. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the museum offers various short-term exhibitions, educational programmes for groups in the castle and in the field, cultural events and the castle can be rented for weddings, photo shoots or conferences.
