It is perfect for history and monument enthusiasts, as well as for those who enjoy combining travel with sports activities. Opava is a city through which history literally flowed. It was located on the strategic Amber Trail merchant's route. This means that, at the beginning of the common era, this city too flowed with amber, honey, and slaves from the north to the south. Meanwhile, products from Mediterranean workshops travelled in the opposite direction. The Silesian Museum in Opava It may sound hard to believe, but Opava's Silesian Museum is the oldest in the Czech Republic. Even the National Museum on the upper end of Saint Wenceslaus Square in Prague was only established four years later. Today, the museum is the third largest in the country, and boasts a collection of roughly two and a half million exhibit items and documents. www.szm.cz Raduň Chateau Chateaus often tower over the landscape so people can admire their noble origins. A short distance from this bunker is another similar fort—František—which, just like the Jaroš bunker, is being maintained today by military history enthusiasts. www.szm.cz i map menu www Opava - The Dolní Square
