Jihočeský kraj Nové Hrady The castle with its two opposing gates and a deep moat was built by the Vítkovec family in the second half of 13th century. After building a new Neoclassical house to replace its residential function it was used only for administrative purposes and fell into disrepair. In the 1980s it underwent an extensive renovation. Today you can see the Buqoy family interiors and their family portraits and mementoes of their military achievements. The Estate Clerk’s Apartment tour route presents the life of the small town bourgeoisie at the turn of 19th and 20th century and is opened year round. Bellow the castle there is a natural landscape park Theresa’s Valley with Romantic buildings and an artifi cial waterfall. +420 386 362 135 novehrady@npu.cz www.hrad-novehrady.cz
