Jihočeský kraj Rožmberk To the people looking at up from the Vltava River’s meanders it can look like they see two distinct castles. The older Lower Castle was built in the fi rst half of 13th century by the Vítkovec family and to it was at the turn of 13th and 14th century added the Upper Castle for which was, after a fi re, left only a defensive tower called Jakobínka. The Gothic castle underwent some Renaissance alteration during the last Rožmberks nad it was followed by Mannerist changes by the last offspring of the Rose lineage Jan Zrinský of Seryn. You can see copies of paintings of famous crusader military leaders, a collection of antique objets d’art and weapons. On the second fl oor of the castle there are private rooms furnished according to historic stock books that are opened to the public year round. The tour route will also take you up the English Tower from which you can admire the view of the meandering river and the Šumava foothills. +420 380 749 838 rozmberk@npu.cz www.hrad-rozmberk.cz
