Liberecký kraj Zákupy A large Baroque chateau in Zákupy was used in the 2nd half of the 19th century as a summer seat of the abdicated Austrian Emperor and the last crowned king of Bohemia, Ferdinand the Good. Several tour circuits show the imperial quarters, the dining room or the chapel in which Franz Ferdinand, heir presumptive of the Austro-Hungarian throne, married Czech countess Sophie Chotek in 1900. A unique piece of preserved technology is an original personal elevator from 1870 built by the Ringhoffer company. The moat serves as a home of a brown bear and during the tourist season you can attend costumed guided tours and many cultural events. +420 487 857 278 www.zamek-zakupy.cz zakupy@npu.cz
