Olomoucký kraj Šternberk Castle Šternberk was originally a fortifi ed dwelling and with a well preserved round tower and remnants of the original fortifi cations of the main palace has been a magnet for visitors for its unusual atmosphere. The castle was founded in mid-13th century by Zdeslav of Chlumec and Šternberk and was later renovated in the Renaissance style by the Berka of Dubá and Lipá family. In late 19th century it was rebuilt again in the Romantic style for Johann II of Liechtenstein. The castle was updated to a modern residence with centralised heating, modern bathrooms and a personal elevator.
