Plzeňský kraj Horšovský Týn Horšovský Týn was founded as a bishop’s castle before the 1350s. It was destroyed by fi re in 1547 and Jan the Younger Popel of Lobkowicz rebuilt it as a palatial Renaissance residence. In following centuries it did not undergo any major redesigns. Many parts of Horšovský Týn house are opened to the public. You can see the castle, the burgrave’s palace and also the estate of the late Countess Mitsuko Coudenhove- Kalergi who moved to central Europe from Japan and lived in Bohemia at the turn of 19th and 20th century. The castle is surrounded by a 40 hectare natural landscape park.
