Plzeňský kraj Přimda The ruins of castle Přimda are one of the most important historic sites of the Tachov district and are recognised as the second oldest preserved stone castle in the country, right after the Prague Castle, by many experts. The fi rst written mention of Přimda comes from 1121. Up to 1126 it belonged to the Bohemian royalty as an invaluable border stronghold guarding an important trade route from Prague and Plzeň to the Upper Palatinate. In 15th and 16th century the castle was often used as collateral by noble families, especially the lords of Švamberk. The abandoned castle slowly turned into ruin and by the 17th century it was uninhabited. The still standing massive rectangular tower was built from stone and clad with granite slabs and dates into the fi rst half of 12th century. +420 374 631 773 kladruby@npu.cz www.hrad-primda.cz
