Středočeský kraj Křivoklát One of the oldest and most important castles of the Czech kings whose look was infl uenced by the Přemyslid, Luxembourg and Jagiellon dynasties. It was an opulent royal residence as well as a feared jail. Today the castle offers tours of the Gothic chapel, the King’s and Knights’ Hall with a collection of medieval art, the library and its fi fty two thousand volumes, the Fürstenberg museum, the picture gallery and the prison. The Great Tower is also open to the public together with the hunting collection and Huderka tower and its black kitchen and the outlook gallery. Many annual events take place here – the Křivoklát Summer with historical reenactments, woodcarving festival, the Counts’ Advent, the Easter celebration and night time tours.
