Horšovský Týn Kašperk Castle Manětín Château Rabí Velhartice Švihov A region of romantic castles and châteaux Horšovský Týn While wandering through the Bohemian Forest region, one should not forget its three most beautiful castles – the mysterious Velhartice Castle and château with its reconstructed castle brewery, Kašperk Castle, which is the highest placed royal castle in Bohemia, and the largest Czech castle ruins of Rabí. The most famous Czech fairy tale "Three Wishes for Cinderella" was shot at the Švihov water castle near the town of Klatovy. The Červené Poříčí Château, built in the unique style of the Saxon Renaissance, the castle ruins and the Neo-Gothic castle with a gallery in Klenová, and Chudenice château, the oldest family residence of the Czech Czernin family, are definitely worth a visit in the Klatovy region. The Plzeň region is full of masterpieces. A visit to the Classicist Kozel hunting château is sure to be even more interesting thanks to walks in the extensive English-style park and the surrounding deep forests. During the season the ruins of the once famous royal castle of Radyně is open to visitors. These ruins tower above the town of Starý Plzeňec. Travelling around the southern part of the Plzeň region will take you to the town of Blovice with the pseudo-Gothic Hradiště Château, where the local museum is located. The smell of lavender and strolling peacocks can be experienced at Nebílovy Château, the Baroque flower with a beautiful romantic courtyard. And the charming atmosphere of Žinkovy Château is also waiting to be discovered. In the northern part of the Plzeň region visitors are welcome by a Baroque pearl, the Manětín Château. History is recalled here thanks to Baroque sculptures and a beautiful castle park. The ruins of Krašov Castle rise on a rock above the Berounka River and offer a magnificent view over the picturesque valley. In the Rokycany region we must not forget Zbiroh, the château of three emperors, which has the deepest castle well in Europe. Not far from the town of Rokycany, Mirošov Château has been brought back to life by an extensive reconstruction. If you long for ancient history, you can also visit the Domažlice and Tachov regions, where you can explore the ruins of Přimda Castle, the oldest stone castle in Bohemia, the romantic ruins of Gutštejn Castle, and the ruins of the Gothic Buben Castle. The Horšovský Týn Castle and château, located in the centre of the town of the same name near the town of Domažlice, has four guided tours, and you can even visit a historical mangle and a laundry room.
