The palace is representative of the architecture typical for the important royal residences of the 16th to 18th centuries. The buildings around the five castle courtyards are decorated with rare Renaissance frescoes. Two different guided tours of the interior are available offering a look at historic installations dating back to the 16th to 19th centuries, the castle tower and dungeons, the lapidarium with an exhibition of Baroque statues, the blacksmith shop, and the horse stables where a harness collection is displayed, and the Castle Museum, which is open year-round. There are also two galleries in the second and fourth castle courtyards offering exhibitions of contemporary Czech ceramics and fine art. The highest accessible point is the observation gallery at the top of the Castle Tower, which is 35 meters above the second courtyard. Conversely, the lowest accessible point is in the Wenceslas Cellars, which are 12 meters below the surface of the fourth courtyard. The eleven hectares of Baroque gardens with French and English landscaping, the cascade fountain and the chateau lake are popular spots for relaxation and meditative strolls. There are other historical landmarks to be found in Český Krumlov in addition to the castle. In the Inner Town, visitors can see the original street system with a regularly-shaped square, which has not changed since the time the town was founded. Other sites worth seeing include the Renaissance style Town Hall, and the Gothic Church of St. Vitus. The Latrán Quarter, located north of the Inner Town, has well-preserved Gothic architecture and is where the town walls are situated. Photo: State-owned Český Krumlov Castle and Chateau 300 400
