OBJECTS Interiors and the Art of Furniture Design “Croak” vase, 1908 Jan Durych (birth and death dates unknown) Bohemia Brass, embossed, patinated; height 29 cm The vase aptly named “Croak” (the title is engraved on the underside) is decorated with stylised reed leaves and frogs “hiding” under them in the vase’s widening lower section. The slender body of this embossed vase is square in form, with a circular base and neck. The designer Jan Durych was probably professionally active in and around the K. K. Vocational School for Art Locksmithing in Hradec Králové.
