OBJECTS Geometry Necklace, after 1910 Eugen Pflaumer (active after 1903, died 1918) Jablonec nad Nisou (Gablonz) Gold, carnelian; height of pendant 3.1 cm, length of chain 35 cm Eugen Pflaumer came from the German-speaking region of Northern Bohemia. He received his art training in Vienna, where he later worked as a goldsmith in Wiener Werkstätte’s studios. Sometime before 1910, he returned to his home country and taught at the Vocational School in Jablonec nad Nisou (Gablonz). There he became an exponent of the Viennese geometric style and its superbly stylised, planar floral patterns. Just as with many other outstanding European artists, Eugen Pflaumer’s teaching career was also interrupted by World War I.
