OBJECTS Geometry Punch bowl set (replica), before 1910 Jan Kotěra (1871–1923), design, designed for Artěl Praha Harrach glassworks, Nový Svět (Neuwelt) – original Moser glassworks, Karlovy Vary, 1995 – replica Colourless glass, cut; height of bowl 41.5 cm, height of cup 12 cm The architect Jan Kotěra designed the first version of this punch bowl set with six cups for the World’s Fair held in Saint Louis, Missouri, in 1904. It was decorated with a continuous pattern using the V-shaped cut. The second version (whose replica is presented here), was executed in a simpler glass-decorating technique: the surface is adorned with elegant, wide facets that underscore the refined forms of the pieces. The Museum of Decorative Arts purchased this set for its collections in 1915 from the Exhibition of Modern Czech Glass in Prague.
