OBJECTS Art Associations and the Visual Style André Louis Armand Rassenfosse (1862–1934) Salon des Cent, 1896 Colour lithograph on paper; 66 x 50 cm Salon des Cent was a commercial gallery founded in 1891 whose activities were reflected in the La Plume art journal. The Salon presented a wide range of artists at its regular exhibitions mounted between 1894 and 1900. The most notable artists included Jules Chéret, Toulouse-Lautrec, Edgar Degas, Alphonse Mucha, Eugene Grasset, James Ensor, Puvis de Chavannes and Pierre Bonnard. The Salon focused on graphic arts, especially posters, and became the ideological and exhibition centre of poster art.
