OBJECTS Interiors and the Art of Furniture Design Tea set, c. 1900 Franz Raumwolf, Vienna Parcel-gilt silver, bone; max. height 15 cm (pot) Bears the Austro-Hungarian (Viennese) hallmark and the maker’s mark FR Tea and coffee services were used for small dining occasions. The serving of these beverages was by no means limited only to intimate settings. Services of this type were supplied to private customers as sets for one, two or more persons. The basic components consisted of a slim coffee pot, a more robust tea pot, a creamer and sugar bowl. Luxury versions had, in addition, a water-heating jug with a stand and burner. Sets for Turkish coffee or for café au lait were more delicate in form.
