University of Ostrava (OU), founded in 1991, is the youngest public university in the Czech Republic, has over 10,000 students, and located in the most densely populated and industrial region. Ostrava was formerly a heavy industrial city and now is the most important business and traffic hub of the Moravian-Silesian Region. OU provides Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD degree programmes in humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, medicine, health studies and fine arts.
