2.7 EMPLOYMENT MODULE IN TOURISM 231 266 In 2011, the total number of persons employed in tourism in the Czech Republic amounted to 231,266. In 2011, the share of the tourism sector in total employment equalled 4.52 % (of jobs). Compared to 2010, this indicator dropped by 0.1 %. Basic information Tourism employment module, in spite of the fact that it stands on own base, is generally closely tied to the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA). It is in accordance with concepts and definitions used in other fields of social economic statistics and tourism statistics, especially in the European System of Accounts ESA 1995, in the standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and in other documents relative to the tourism statistics issued by international as well as European organizations (Eurostat, WTO, OECD, UN). Methodology Tourism employment module uses documents from two main sources – information on employment rate in the National Accounts (NA) and from the Labour Force Sample Survey (LFSS). Source of information on employment in the NA is company statistical reporting. Its reports research information about the average evidence of employee number, number of working company owners (entrepreneurs) and cooperating household members, activity of whom within the company is their main employment. Information about employees is available from research among physical entities, recalculated persons to full employment, for full and part time employment. The research by LFSS is used as another source for the National Accounts. This research is performed continuously in a randomly selected sample of households and is focused on finding out economic situation of residents across the entire Czech Republic. Subject of research are persons living long‑term in collective accommodation establishments. For this reason the information about certain groups of residents, especially foreigners living and working in the Czech Republic, are available only in a limited form. All data in the Tourism Employment Module represent so called home employment concepts, meaning relative to people working within the economic territory of Czech Republic. In contrast to the national interpretation this concept includes non‑residents working in the Czech Republic and on the contrary residents working abroad are not included. Most of the information is published categorizing working persons into employed and selfemployed. Basic unit is the number of physical entities. In the case of number of jobs this is raised by various second and other employments. Main indicators Employees – are defined as all persons, who are working based on a contract for another residential institutional unit and accept a reward (recorded as “employee reimbursements”). Persons are included in employees in the event that they do not also have their own profit‑making activity, which represents their fundamental activity. Persons, who temporarily do not work, are also considered employees with the presumption that they have formal employment. Self-employed – are persons, who are the sole owners or a coowners of non‑associated companies, where they are working, with the exception of non‑associated companies classified as quasi‑companies. They are doing business and work with paid employees or without them. Self supportive persons are classi‑ fied here in the case that they are not also in paid employment, which represents their main activity; in such a case they are classified as employees. On the other hand these include cooperating members of company owner’s household, for whom the activity in the company is the main employment. Working position (or rather employment) – is defined as explicit or implicit contract between a person and a residential institutional unit on work performance for the determined period or until further notice – termination notice. Included here are second and other employments of the same person. On the contrary who is excluded are persons, who are temporarily not working, but they have a so called formal employment (formal relation to employment). Amount of work during working hours – represents a total number of hours actually worked by the employee and self‑employed person during an accounting period in the event that their production is within the scope of defined production borders. Equivalent of full time working hours – equals number of full time employments and is defined as a share of the total number of hours worked and average annual number of hours worked in full time employment within the economic territory.
