Examples of successfully implemented projects in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 One of the projects with a positive response not only from the local public is “By Green Train from Benešov to Konopiště”. The goal of this project is to make a tourist site of a supra‑regional importance, the Konopiště chateau, accessible also by other means of transport than just by car. An environmentally friendly means of transport from Benešov to the chateau was introduced – a train engine with a carriage, including a network of stops, benches, information boards and promotion. The train makes it easy for the disabled, senior citizens and visitors with prams to get on and off. It offers an attractive, environmentally‑friendly and safe access to an important sightseeing site. The project called “Kadlečák B B’s Service Centre” consisted of building a sports equipment rental, a log portico and public toilets. This project proves that building and operating public toilets does not necessarily need to be a task for a town or a municipality. All structures are made of wood and they nicely fit with the surrounding landscape. Another supported project which will be mainly appreciated by children and families with children is the “Brčálník Fairy‑tale Land”. A 3‑km long nature trail was transformed into the Brčálník Fairy‑tale (nature) trail leading from the Špičácké sedlo to the Fairy‑tale Land in the Brčálník mountain grounds. Children will live part of the “Fairy‑tale Wandering” on the trail and when reaching the Fairy‑tale Land in the Brčálník valley they will indeed meet magical characters. The Fairy‑tale Land is both a playground and sports ground. The trail is conceived as an animated journey into the fairy‑tale. New additions to the trail (boards, signs, benches, rest areas, etc.) create a lively journey through the fairy‑tale which draws the children in. Marketing activities comprise a website with a virtual fairy‑tale (nature) trail and a fairy‑tale garden. A unique and beneficial project of navigation and information systems for visitors with sensory disabilities is called “Information and Navigation System for Persons with Sensory Disabilities”. The main purpose of the project was to create and deploy an information and navigation system for hearing and sight impaired visitors to the Railway Kingdom exhibition. The exhibition is a railway model of the whole Czech Republic broken down to individual regions. Apart from making the exhibition accessible also to sensory disabled visitors, the project improves the comfort for senior citizens and children. The project included development of a special software and installation of several information kiosks with touch screens which enable zooming the displayed information in and out. Information about the exhibits – important buildings and structures – is available in the audio format and some also in Braille. TOURISM IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC IN 2012
